Orchard Valley Foods St Ives, previously known as County Confectionery, is based in the stunning Cornish town of St Ives. It is an international confectionery business that has been serving up sweet treats since Ken and Doreen Brian opened their first fudge shop in 1978.

It’s a real family business and Mark Brian, MD of St Ives, recalls how his dad created the first ever fudge recipe for the business. It was cooked up in a traditional copper pot in the family kitchen. Luckily, Mark’s granny approved of the recipe and the family decided to call the fudge Copperpot. Today this traditional recipe remains the cornerstone of the modern business.

In the original shop there were 32 flavours on offer and the fudge was chopped and bagged as customers waited. Copperpot Fudge quickly became synonymous with quality and great taste.  Increased demand for this delicious, authentic Cornish fudge saw the family moving into bigger premises to keep up with demand.

Mark’s granny has now retired, however dad, David, is still working in the business with Mark. Together the family proudly represent three generations of confectionery connoisseurs in Cornwall.

Our factory in St Ives is full of Cornish provenance, creating a family feel to this fun, creative, award winning site. With industrial scale manufacturing capabilities and hands- on innovation it is the perfect addition to the Orchard Valley Foods Group family’. CEO Ulrik Moes
